Abandoned Vehicle Report
If you notice an Abandoned vehicle in your area that has been there for some time it can be reported to the Council as a possible abandoned vehicle. The Council will make enquiries to determine ownership of the vehicle, and take action under the Refuse (Disposal) Amenity Act 1978 to deal with the vehicle depending on its status. Where no one claims ownership of the vehicle, and an owner cannot be traced through the Police or the DVLA, the vehicle can be classed as abandoned and the Council can use a formal enforcement process to carry out its removal and destruction.
The process does take time and the vehicle will be removed as quickly as the law permits. Subject to the circumstances, the average time is around 12 working days. So please be patient.
