Birth, Death, Marriage and Civil Partnership Certificates

Thank you for accessing the Dudley MBC Registration Service website to apply for birth, death, marriage or civil partnership certificates. Register office records date back to 1837.
 
We can only supply these certificates relating to persons who were born, married, registered a civil partnership or died within the current Dudley Metropolitan Borough boundaries.
 
All certificates supplied are certified copies of the original register entries.

Note that short copies of birth certificates are not suitable in all application processes, such as passports, and it may be more appropriate to order a standard copy.

Standard service

This service incurs a charge of:

  • £10.00 - for each short birth certificate
  • £10.00 - for each standard birth/death/marriage/civil partnership certificate
  • £5.50 - for postage (Royal Mail Signed For 1st class) per application

If the birth/death/marriage was recently registered (usually within a month) the cost is £7.00.

For added security and peace of mind, we will post your certificate(s) by Royal Mail Signed For 1st class. Packages will be insured against loss in transit up to the value of £50. Please note someone must be in to sign for the certificate. Certificates are produced in 2 working days.

If preferred, you may collect your certificate(s) from Dudley Register Office, Priory Hall, Priory Park, Dudley DY1 4EU. Your certificate will be available after 2pm on the second working day following submitting your application. If your certificate is for family history please allow 5 working days.

Same-day service

If you need your certificate(s) quickly we offer a same-day service for certificates ordered before 12 noon. If you select this service your certificate(s) will be posted the same day or will be available for collection after 3pm on the same day. Please note that this service is only available Monday – Friday (except for public holidays).

This service incurs a charge of:

  • £25.00 - for each short birth certificate
  • £25.00 - for each standard birth/death/marriage/civil partnership certificate
  • Multiple copies of the same certificate incur an additional fee of £10.00 per certificate
  • Certificates will be posted using Royal Mail Signed For 1st class

Priority one hour service

If you need your certificate urgently this service will ensure collection of or despatch of certificates within the hour, provided that the request is submitted before 3pm.

This service incurs a charge of:

  • £44.00 - for each short birth certificate
  • £44.00 - for each standard birth/death/marriage/civil partnership certificate
  • Multiple copies of the same certificate incur an additional fee of £10.00 per certificate
  • Certificates will be posted using Royal Mail Signed For 1st class

Certificates for events registered within the last month are usually produced the next working day, therefore the priority service is not required.

Online payment

This service requires an online payment; you will be taken to the secure payment facility upon submission of this form.

  • You need a valid debit or credit card
  • A 1.2% transaction charge will be added to credit card payments
  • An appropriate payment is required
  • Your application will not be processed until payment has been received
  • The online payment facility is not available from 7:45 pm to 8:15 pm, Monday to Saturday
